I am in the middle of this Parenthood series from Craig Groeschel of Life Church. If you have never listened to his messages, I really encourage you to. Good stuff.

Parenting is hard, that's nothing new. I feel like I'm struggling more days than not to be the mom that God wants me to be. I want to be a source of encouragement to my kids, not frustration. I want to shower my kids with the attention and love they need, not put them off because I've got things to do. I want to look back on this time of their childhood and know that I did more than just maintain. These messages have made me squirm a little, revealing so many things I need to work on. They have also made me want to fight even harder for my kids.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9
These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

6 tellin' me what I want to hear!:

Hi, Trisha.

I'm popping over for the first time from Joy @ The Doctor's Wife...and I just have to say that this post spoke right to my heart. I'm a brand new SAHM of two (2YO and 5MO) and a wife to a brand new physician (we, too, are 1st year residents), and I've recently asked myself "what am I doing?" I'm been struggling to find the balance between being the mom that the Lord has called me to be and taking care of the house (so that we're not living in filth, have clean clothes to wear, and a warm, healthy meal to eat). I want my children to remember how I played and read with them, not how I put them in front of the TV so that I could clean.

Thank you for your's exactly what I needed. :-)

Parenting is HARD... raising children these days seems a lot harder... so many more distractions and challenges!

I think you are doing a great job...

Keep relying on God... with faith... all things are possible!

I couldn't ask for a better mother for my three grandchildren, and I'm so glad you are relying on God to be your teacher. We all questioned ourselves as parents because we know what a great calling parenting is. It is wise to get as much help from Godly counsel as possible.

Our Family said... Pastor Craig. I'm gonna have to watch this series. Just know one thing - you're not alone in all those feelings you mentioned. Being a SAHM is the hardest job on earth. I know you're doing a fabulous job! Ask yourself this one your kids know you love them with all your heart? Enough said. BE ENCOURAGED!
