on my mind

Here's some good stuff from Craig at Life Church. It's from the first message in the Zip It series. Oh, does this hit home. It's so easy to let the negative creep in, isn't it?

From a negative heart overflows negative words which generally become negative actions resulting in a miserable life.

Your words reveal the condition of your heart.
James 1:26
If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.

Think about what you have been complaining about and look at it from a different perspective.
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

I will not hang out with negative people.
Corinthians 15:33
Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."

I will speak words of life.
Proverbs 18:21
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

I will be thankful for what I have.

Matthew 12:34-37

For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. 35The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

Thanks for the reminder Trisha. Right now waiting in limbo for residency and not really knowing what we should do, it is so easy to sometimes look at the negatives instead of the positives. God has a perfect plan - thank goodness!!

Yikes, those words. A major struggle! I'm surprised my husband still loves me. Thanks for the scriptures. I've read them many times and need to everyday. That's why I liked the note pad we found at the cash and carry.

Oh, I love this. Great reminders that I need to read all the time. I think I will copy the commentary/verses so I can look at them frequently.

Thanks for these words, they always seem to come at a time in my life when I need them the most... I too am going to start listening to his sermons as I know that you and Cady really like him and get quite a bit out of his messages...
