why can't we all just get along?

In anticipation of our doctor visit today…

Hayes: “Are we going to get a shot, Mom?”

Me: "No."

Hayes: "Ellie, we don't want to get a shot."(Hayes is known for bringing up the unexpected for Embry and Ellie in hopes of getting them worked up.)

Ellie: “I wanna shot!”

Hayes: “I don’t want a shot!”

Ellie: “I wanna shot!” (Ellie is known for arguing with anything anyone says.)

Hayes: “Ellie, you don’t want a shot.”

Embry: “It’s my shark!” (Embry is known for occasionally missing the point. In his defense, he did have a shark on his shirt.)

Ellie: “My shot! I wanna shot!”

Embry: “My shark! Mine’s pretty.”

Ellie: “Mine’s pretty!”

Embry: “Mine is pretty. It’s blue. Yours isn’t pretty.”

Ellie: “Miiiiiine is pretty.”

In his best shark voice, Embry screams, “Raaaarrrrrr!”

Welcome to my world. Where the fuses are short and the conversations make no sense.

This picture is from a couple months ago... one of those rare moments where they were actually getting along. :)

mother's day tea

I was invited to a Mother's Day Tea at Hayes' school. He was so excited for me to come and hear his songs and see the gift he made for me (which was bigger and awesomer than the ones Embry and Ellie made me, of course).

The kids sang us their songs and then we went back to the room for cookies, punch and presents... some yummy bath salts by the way. The music was so much fun. Given his history, Hayes can be quite the little entertainer. So I'm always excited (and a bit anxious) about what's in store. The kid has yet to disappoint. :)

Hayes with Mrs. McMorris, his pre-k teacher. She has been a wonderful teacher this year. Hayes loves going to school and has learned so much from her.

down on the farm

The kids always have a blast when we head back home and do all of those fun, farmy things. I know I won't stand a chance getting to live in town when we move back. :)

Grandpa and Nana are planting trees with each of their grandkids. It was Embry's turn this time. Hayes was one when they planted his tree. Look at my big boy and his tree now!

what we've been learning

hands up

feet up

Embry and Ellie got to show us their gym skillz today at school. I have to say that I was impressed... they basically have Little Gym at school! They were so proud, running around performing their tricks.

And then the good times came to an end rather quickly. They all lined up on their rope as it was time to go. It was Meltdown City all the way back to their classroom. I think all of the kiddos were crying for their mommies. :(
