christmas time
Summing up Kyle's year... skateboarding doctor.
Ready for Santa!
Whew! Santa did stop by afterall...
Embry's highlight... the Woody doll he received on Christmas Eve. After that, he wasn't interested in anything... not even Santa's goodies the next morning.
We love TJ and Auntie! It was so fun hanging out with them. I even got some one on one sister shopping time in!
Papaw made Ellie this precious baby bed. Minnie made the bedding. This will be cherished forever.
Grandma and the girls... most of them anyway. It was so good to see everyone.

on my mind
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3And everyone went to his own town to register.
8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."
15When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."
16So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
19But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

on my mind
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Luke 16:13
No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."
Luke 16:10
Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

advent conspiracy
worship fully
spend less
give more
love all
What a concept. I discovered Advent Conspiracy through Jane Anne at Gravity of Motion and can't stop thinking about it.
Let it sink in... it would take $10 billion to fix the world's water problem forever. Forever. And Americans alone spend $450 billion on Christmas each year. So basically, over 3,000 children a day could escape death from water born illnesses in exchange for Americans not getting as much stuff under the Christmas tree.
I don't know why this is affecting me so much now, but I'm glad it is. I hope it does you too.
$10 would give a child clean water for life. If you want to donate you can go to Advent Conspiracy's partner Living Water International.

chicken and biscuit casserole
*Lightly grease a 9 x 13 baking dish.
*In a large skillet, melt butter over medium high heat. Cook and stir the garlic, onion, celery & carrots in the butter until tender. Mix in the flour, sugar, salt, 1 teaspoon dried basil and pepper.
*Stir in broth and bring to a boil. Stirring constantly, boil for one minute, reduce heat and stir in peas. Simmer 5 minutes, then mix in the chicken. Transfer mixture to the baking dish.
*In a medium bowl, combine the baking mix and 2 teaspoons dried basil. Stir in the milk to form a dough. Divide the dough into 12 balls. On floured surface, flatten each ball into a circle. Place on top of chicken mixture.
*Bake for 30 minutes. Cover with foil and bake an additional 10 minutes. To serve, spoon chicken mixture over biscuits.

tick in my couch
"Why did you scream Mom?"
"Because you scared the patooty out of me Hayes!"
"Do I look like a tick?"
"What's a tick?"
"You know, the bug you don't like that drinks your blood."
Uhhh... not the first thing that came to my mind. But ok, a tick.
