take me for a ride

The hometown county fair was this week. And of course we couldn't miss it! Memories from last year had the kiddos excited with anticipation! They had a blast running around to all of the different rides and eating cotton candy and caramel apples. Thanks to Grandpa and Papaw for spending a small fortune on the entertainment. Holey moley, those rides were expensive but the kids loved every minute of it. Well, maybe not the waiting their turn part. :)

And Mommy took them for a little ride of her own this morning as we headed to a baby shower. Making a turn in a neighborhood, my car began to slide on the rainy blacktop road.

Talk about everything happening in slow motion. Talk about eyes wide open as I looked back at my kids thinking, "I can't believe this is happening right now." The car finally came to a stop in the grass on the other side of the road, almost having done a complete turn. Thank you Jesus. No harm except for maybe a shaken-up mama... and one impressed 5 year old. "Mom! That was so cool! How did you do that?!?"

12 tellin' me what I want to hear!:

Yeah, you were shaken all right...so thankful that God protected you all! That was probably the most fun ride, although it was fun at the fair.

Thank heaven for guardian angels!

Your pictures from the fair are awesome! Mine are all blurry :(

Fun seeing you at the fair!

oh my goodness! Glad you are all ok! That had to be scary! :(

The fair looks like fun! I can't tell you the last time I went to one of those (not counting the Tulsa field trips!)

Yikes! Glad you are okay! J has been in two car accidents this summer and I'm so glad the baby and I weren't with him either time. It terrifies me... glad you impressed Hayes, though - you earned major mommy points for that! ;)

The fair looks like lots of fun.

I remember the same thing happening to my Mom taking me to school one day (I must have been 6 or 7). I still remember it - and remember how calm she appeared, though I now know that she must have been quite shaken.

Glad you are all ok!

I am so glad that I had a feeling about you driving in the rain and prayed for safety for you all! Just a "Momma thing" I guess!

We did have a good time at the fair and I am sure that Papaw and Grandpa didn't mind spending that "small fortune" so we all could see those precious smiles on each grandchild's face as they enjoyed every ride!... Even Hayes eating all the carmel off the apple and saying "Minnie, that apple is just too sour to eat!"

See you next weekend for the big birthday for E & E!

Mmmm, caramel apples! While it *does* cost a small fortune for the kiddos to ride, it's SO worth it to see how much they enjoy it.

Oh, *your* ride sounds so scary....SO glad you are okay.

I'm so glad you are okay! I can't tell you how many times that thought runs through my head about what to do if I'm in an accident with my kids. Ugh. Hugs to you!

Glad you all are OK. Dad is checking into the road situation with the homeowners association, if it makes you fell any better.
