on my mind

Matthew 20:28
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Mark 9:35
He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”

Philippians 2:3-4
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

4 tellin' me what I want to hear!:

I've been pondering my life lately and if I've been living it purposely or just living.

I've learned a lot about myself over the last couple of weeks (since starting a new bible study)...particularly that I'm quite selfish, not a very honor-/glory-giving character trait.

Thanks for sharing a couple of great scripture for reflection.

I think that when we live a life for service to others and set aside our own selfish desires, it can be a great source of fulfillment. It seems kind of contradictory -- finding fulfillment when we stop trying to fulfill ourselves -- but the Lord's ways our not ours, are they?
